June 23, 1957 ~ February 8, 2020 (age 62) 62 Years Old

Tribute

Veronica “Betty” Dolores Magnan, 62, passed away February 8, 2020 with her family by her side, after over a decade long battle with Primary Amyloidosis.

Betty was born on June 23, 1957 in Dixon, Illinois to Ricardo and Nohemi Cervantes. In 1968 her family moved to Del Rio, Texas and soon after, Betty became a proud member of the San Felipe Poniettes Drill Team at age 9. In 1971 the family moved to Fremont, California where she graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in 1977. Soon after, she married her high school sweetheart, Robert Magnan, and together, they had two sons. In 1990 they moved to Tracy where she lived until the weekend before her passing. She worked in the film processing industry for over 20 years while raising her family.

Nothing was more important to Betty than her family. She loved her family with everything she had and would go to the ends of the earth to ensure their happiness and success. Betty was an amazing cook, and was at her happiest when her entire family was together for gatherings, especially if the Dallas Cowboys were playing! She had an infectious smile and was always able to look for the positive in things, no matter how dire the situation was. Betty was diagnosed with Primary Amyloidosis in July 2010 and was given six months to live. Her strong faith and incredible fighting spirit proved doctors wrong time and time again. She fought with everything she had and showed everyone the true definition of tough. She had a kind, forgiving heart, and always sought to focus on finding the best in people. Her love for her grandbabies was beyond measure. She loved to dance and sing, and enjoyed being outside soaking in the sunshine. Her radiant love will be missed by all.

Betty is survived by her husband of 40 years, Robert Magnan; her two sons, Daniel Magnan and his wife, Megan, and Michael Magnan and his wife, Tara; her three grandchildren, Scarlett, Isaiah, and Wyatt; her seven siblings, Noraima, Gloria, Ricardo, Yolisma, Lester, Jesse, and Rey, along with their spouses; numerous nieces and nephews, and many other family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her mother, Nohemi (Talamantes) Cervantes and her father, Ricardo Cervantes.

A memorial visitation will be held at Fry Memorial Chapel on Thursday, February 13, from 12:00 - 9:00 p.m., with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. On Friday, February 14, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, with burial to follow at the Tracy Mausoleum.
