Teotonio Borges Pimentel | September 11, 1945 – August 20, 2019 Resident of Tracy, California passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at the age of 73. Teotonio is survived by his loving wife of 48 years Maria Benilde Pimentel of Tracy, California. Beloved father of one son and two daughters. Son Teotonio M Pimentel and wife Karen of Modesto, California. Daughter Emilia Ferreira and husband Mario of Tracy, California, and daughter Linda Niño of Tracy, California. Beloved grandfather of 10 grandchildren, Crystal Pimentel, Tony Pimentel, Amanda Pimentel, Jonathan Pimentel, Jose Niño, Marissa Ferreira, Erik Niño, Brianna Ferreira, Lynnsey Ferreira and Ryan Pimentel.
Dear brother to Francisco Pimentel and late wife Mary Pimentel of Fremont, California, Manuel and Maria Pimentel of Union City California, and Jose Carlos and Connie Pimentel of Fremont, California. He also leaves behind many nephews, nieces, family and friends.
Teotonio was born on September 11, 1945 in Terceira, Azores Portugal to Francisco and Emilia Pimentel. In May 1976 he migrated to the United States with his wife, two young children, brothers and father where he resided in Newark, California for 40 years until moving to Tracy, California in 2016.
Teotonio worked at GILLIG Corporation for 20 years as an assembler till he had to retire in September 2006 due to a life changing event. Teotonio had a passion for music. He was a founding member, musician, board member, and a past President of the Portuguese marching band, Filarmonica Receiro do Emigrante Portuguese of Newark, California. For many years he played clarinet and loved to teach others his same passion, his daughters included. Teotonio also played for the Portuguese Band of Santa Clara. He was an active member of the PFSA Co#16 of Newark, California, founding member of Portuguese American Pastoral Cultural Centre of Newark, California, and a member of Newark Portuguese Sport Club of Newark and SDES of Alvarldo, Union City, California.
When Teotonio was not working or playing music, he loved to spend time in his back yard where he planted many fruit trees, raised many pigeons and hung out with his favorite dog Tiger. His birds and his dog were his best friends. He loved to spend as much time as he could with all his family, especially his wonderful grandchildren. He will be missed.
Visitation will be held to family and friends on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a Rosary Service at 7:00 PM at Fry Memorial Chapel, 550 South Central Avenue, Tracy California. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at 11:00 AM at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 163 West Eaton Avenue, Tracy, California. Burial to follow at Tracy Mausoleum.
