Ramona Gascoigne Hall

September 4, 1918 ~ March 5, 2020 (age 101) 101 Years Old

Tribute

Ramona Aileen Gascoigne was born in Republican City, Nebraska on September 4, 1918 to Joseph and Amanda (Uplinger) Gascoigne. Her siblings included Ross Mungall, Joseph, George and Evangeline (Hall) Gascoigne.
Graduating Valedictorian of Republican City High School in 1936, Ramona moved to Omaha, where she lived with her brother Ross and his wife Gertrude. She was employed for 11 years by Mutual of Omaha Insurance Co. as a Clerk Typist.
While attending Benson Baptist Church in Omaha, she met Lester Hall Jr. in 1937. There they became engaged in 1938 and married on September 21, 1940. Lester was drafted in World War II and served overseas in Europe. Upon his return and graduation from the University of Nebraska in Omaha, Lester and Ramona headed to Kingsburg, California for work. Daughter Susan was born there. In 1952, the family moved to Tracy, California where Lester and Ramona opened an accountancy business and were blessed with two sons: Brian and Kevin Hall.
Ramona and Lester were charter members of Grace (Baptist) Church of Tracy and served there many years. She served as the Church Clerk, Sunday School Administrator, Historian, choir member, rose and garden tender and many other roles for over 40 years.
In 1963, Ramona was hired at the Defense Depot Tracy in the Mail & Records Department. She retired as Supervisor in 1989. She was active in the Depot’s retirement group, organizing monthly luncheons.
In all her years in Tracy, she was devoted to her family, church and community. She wrote articles for Tracy Press for Girl Scouts. It was her greatest desire to encourage young people to serve God and to go to college.
Her personal relationship with Jesus Chris, her Lord and Savior, gave her joy when going through sickness, surgeries and sad times in her life. Her love of music, singing and playing the piano inspired her family; as did her love of reading the Bible and Our Daily Bread. She would send these to many college students.
Following her 90th birthday party, Ramona moved to Folsom, where her daughter Susan and her family cared for her until her passing. She passed peacefully in her sleep with family around her on March 5, 2020 in Fair Oaks, CA.
