In Loving Memory of Marilyn Kay Hindley of Tracy CA
November 13, 1949 – March 31, 2020
Marilyn Kay Hindley was born in Sandusky, Ohio to Lyman and Pauline Griggs. She spent a happy childhood in the company of her parents, siblings and many friends. She attended and graduated from Huron High School in 1968. On November 1, 1969 Marilyn was wed to the love of her life Thomas W. Hindley in the United Methodist Church in Huron, Ohio. Thomas was an Airman Basic in the US Air force at the time and the two of them spent two years in stationed in Japan where Marilyn gave birth to her first child Jennifer in 1971. After returning to the States, her second child Ryan was born in 1976.
Marilyn was a well-known and beloved figure in Tracy. She worked at the Little Flower Shop, for 28 years, and created beautiful floral arrangements for countless weddings, prom nights, memorials and all the special occasions one might expect for those working in a flower shop. While working in the flower shop Marilyn earned her AA at Delta College in Stockton.
Marilyn loved gardening, animals, nature, and the dogs she had rescued over the years. She loved her friends and family most of all. She had an infectious and genuine smile for everyone she encountered. She was a member of the Tracy Garden Club and many of her most cherished plants are now in the care of the club’s members that she was close with. She loved to shop garage sales and hunt for antiques. She collected Santa Claus figurines and had a flair for turning every-day items into works of art in her home and garden. Marilyn seemed to know everyone, and everyone seemed to know her. She will be missed by all who met or knew her. She also attended of the SouthWinds Church in Tracy where she attended regularly.
Marilyn passed away peacefully with her family by her side following a long and difficult illness. She is survived by her husband of 50 years Thomas W. Hindley, her Daughter Jennifer Barrington and her son in law Kelly Barrington, Her Son Ryan Hindley, Brother Thomas Griggs, and sisters, Virginia Bush, Barbara Burris, and Lois Thomas.
