Tribute

MariAnn Robson (Fajardo) passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on October 20, 2018 in Manteca, CA. She is survived by her husband Richard (Ric) Robson, her daughter, Michelle Fajardo and Michelle’s children Jason, Jessica, and Jordan Lewis and Jasmine and Jaida Medina. Other survivors include her sister Marty West, her sister Nancy Attanasio and brother-in-law, David, her brother William (Bill) West and sister-in-law, Arlene, and many extended “family-of-the-heart” members which include the Oliveira family and numerous other friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Gene West.
MariAnn was born in Hanford, CA. The family lived in Armona, CA, until 1961 when they moved to Hayward, CA, in the San Francisco Bay area. They then moved to Fremont, CA, when her parents purchased Central Telephone Answering Service. MariAnn’s first job was alongside her mother and sister, Marty, at the answering service in their home. MariAnn graduated from Washington High School in 1964 before attending Cal State University, Hayward.
She married Steve Fajardo in 1968 and they resided in San Jose, CA. Their daughter Michelle joined them 4 years later.
MariAnn had various jobs throughout her working life, but the one that combined her passion for adventure and travel was as a Travel Agent. She was ready to go anywhere, anytime, on a moment’s notice. She especially enjoyed the familiarization trips, experiencing first-hand the places she would be recommending to her clients. She was great at organizing and planning globe-trotting adventures for a single traveler or a group of many. She was always happy to go along too, if the occasion arose.
MariAnn and Ric were married in December of 2002. Together they created a catering business where they both enjoyed cooking and meeting new people. MariAnn was known for her expertise in the kitchen and they made a great team. The travel bug again took center stage when they decided to become full-time RVers. They traveled up and down the West Coast and through many Western states. They managed several campgrounds during this time, making many new friends along the way. When they could no longer travel, they moved to Manteca, CA, where Ric is getting the medical care he needs and where she could be closer to her family. She kept up with her friends, both old and new, through Facebook and long phone calls.
She loved her family and friends and when she hugged you, you knew it. She went out of her way to tell you that she loved you and how much you meant to her. She was big-hearted, a good listener, a true friend and always had a ready smile.  She had a great sense of humor and loved to share it, especially in the tough times. She will be greatly missed by all.
Many people that MariAnn loved have been touched by Alzheimer’s disease. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation in her name to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org) 225 N. Michigan Avenue, Floor 17, Chicago, Illinois or any other charity of your choice.
