Tribute

Leonard Cortez, 70, passed away Tuesday, December 10th, surrounded by his loving
family. He survived by his wife, Stella.
Leonard was born in San Jose, where he met the love of his life, Stella. They spent
fifty-three beautiful years together. They have three daughters, Renee, Lynn, Roseann,
nine grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
Leonard was a machinist for thirty-two years. He attended a computer trade school,
which started his passion for technology. He had to have all the latest and greatest
technology from Apple. He was a technology connoisseur and he tested the best
products, delivery after delivery, until he found the greatest one. His best days were
surrounded by his loving family, playing pool, bowling, and watching baseball.
Leonard raised and inspired not just his kids, but his grandchildren. Conversations with
him are held close to our hearts. Summertime barbecues, domino games, nights at the
bowling alley, and games of pool are memories that will forever be cherished . Although
sore losers always claimed he cheated during his games of dominos, there was no
denying his skills were legendary. He was the undefeated domino champ A.K.A
Spinner. He was always excited when his grandkids found interest in the same things
he did. Enthusiasm and joy radiated as he showed them all the tricks of the trade. He
was always cheering them on. He was very active in his family’s life. This man took the
time to learn and be apart of things they were passionate about. His grandfather skills
were like no other. His grandkids could do no wrong and if they did his response...leave
them alone.
He spent a lot of his time getting into projects with his wife. You could always find them
in their backyard getting into something. If you came at the right time he would be
relaxing in his backyard, listening to his music and soaking up the sun. It didn’t take
much to make him happy. He would tell you how to do something and if you were smart,
you’d listen; it was his way or the highway. He truly was the king of fricken everything.
He was a source of strength, compassion, and wisdom for his family. Leonard Cortez
will forever be in our hearts and greatly missed.
A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at CWC Church
