Ellen Castro passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on July 2, 2019 at the age of 86.
Ellen was born September 23, 1932 to Frank R. Jurado and Catherine Hernandez Jurado, after she was born she moved to Tracy where she lived the rest of her life.
Ellen worked at different places in her early years and then went to work for H.J. Heinz where she retired after 35 years.
Ellen was a loving and devoted mother to her five boys, Joseph Castro (Cheryl), Marc Castro (deceased), Christopher Castro, Robert Castro, and Jim Castro (Kim).
Ellen had 11 grandchildren, Lacie Castro, Rebecca Whitcomb (Randy), Jeremiah Hopkins (Dawnyel), Michael Hall (Ray), Adam Castro, Eric Castro (Samantha), Darin Castro (Sarah), Kellie Hohn (Brandon), Jimmy Castro, Wyatt Castro and Kaycee Castro.
She also had six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews that loved her dearly.
Ellen had six siblings, Michael Garcia (deceased), Frank Jurado, Virginia Castro (David), Jerry Jurado (Cathy), Alfred Jurado (Jeri), and Robert “Bobby” Jurado (deceased).
Ellen loved to do many things, she liked to go hear music in the park, go walking in the mall and go on outings with her family and friends and she loved her garden. However, her greatest love was to have family and friends over to her home for get-together’s. She will be missed by her family and friends but will be remembered for the great rice and beans, menudo and Thanksgiving stuffing.
We all have been blessed to have had her in our lives to enjoy her beauty, kindness, and love.
Services will be held at Fry Memorial Chapel, 550 South Central Avenue on Monday, July 15, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. Committal will follow at the Tracy Public Cemetery. Following graveside services, a reception will follow to continue in the Celebration of Her Life at the Guadalupe Center, 126 West 1st Street, Tracy.
