Native of Pleasanton- Resident of Tracy

Donald W. (Frager) Garcia passed away September 4, 2019. He was born October 16, 1930 to a Pleasanton Heritage family (Frager) dating back to the mid 1800’s. He graduated from Pleasanton Elementary School in 1945 and Amador High School, 1949. Donald enlisted in the US Air Force in 1951 and was honorable discharged four years later in 1955.
   He returned home to Pleasanton where he met and married Lillian M. Perez of Tracy. They were married at St. Bernards Catholic Church in Tracy on February 18, 1956. They lived in Santa Clara while Donald attended college. They settled in Tracy in 1960 and raised a family of three sons, Steven, Michael and Ronald.
   Donald was employed at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory from 1960-1993. He was assigned to the Lab’s Site 300 facility for six years, then transferred to the Livermore site.
   Donald was active in the Tracy community. He went through the chairs and became president of the Tracy Civic Athletic Club, St. Bernards Dad’s Club, and St. Bernards Catholic Parish Council. He coached at CYO St. Bernards basketball team for six years.
   His hobby was writing and researching the Family Tree.
   Donald was predeceased in death by his wife Lillian (Perez) Garcia; parents William and Myrtle (Frager) Garcia; son Ronald Edward Garcia; sisters Dorlene Alves and JoAnn Holden; in-laws John and Dominga Perez; brothers-in-law Ronald Holden, Gregory and Edward Perez; nephews Kenneth and Kurt Perez and Jeff Alves.
   Donald is survived by his sons Steven Sr. and Michael Garcia; daughter-in-laws Catherine and Cathy Garcia; grand-children Amber, Ashley, Steven Jr., Garin and Gianna Garcia; in-laws Edmond Alves, Carmen Perez, Carlotta Perez; nephews Kevin and Craig Perez, Warren Holden; nieces Lynette (Perez) Perry, Janell (Alves) Anderson, Jennifer (Alves) Dowden; great-grandchildren Andre and Alijah Olivas and Lexi and Levi Garcia; and Linda Garcia.
   His wish regarding his demise would be: “mourn if you must but only briefly, let happy memories chase away sorrow.”
A Memorial Service will be held at Fry Mortuary 559 S. Central Ave. Tracy, CA on Wednesday September 18, 2019 at 10:00 am
Following interment at Tracy Public Cemetery 501 E. Shultz Road Tracy, CA.
