David L. Herspring Obituary

David L. Herspring (Dave) passed away at the age of 73 on May 22, 2019 at Doctor’s Hospital in Manteca California, where he resided the last two years. Dave, the son of Frank and Ruby Herspring, was born in Oakland CA on February 23, 1946. He grew up in Castro Valley CA and graduated from Castro Valley High School in 1963. He lived in Tracy CA for 23 years where he and his first wife of 27 years, Sandi (Herspring) Brown, raised their son Dave and daughter Devon in the Lammersville area. He gave many hours to supporting the Lammersville Parent Club, the Lammersville 4-H Club and Tracy High FFA program. Dave was a member of the Deputy Sheriffs’ Association of Alameda County, Alameda County Sheriff’s Mounted Posse, the Merced Horsemen’s Association and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Tracy. He was a dedicated law enforcement officer, employed by Alameda County Sheriff’s Department as a Deputy Sheriff for 32 years, retiring in 2002. Shortly after retiring, he moved to Pioneer CA and became a member of the Elks Lodge #2426 located in Jackson CA. He continued his law enforcement career and temporarily worked for Amador County providing courtroom security for the Amador Superior Court in Jackson CA. Dave is survived by his son, Dave Herspring Jr., wife Anna and granddaughter Shelby Herspring; his daughter Devon Beesley, husband Ron Beesley and grandchildren Bryce and Kaylee Beesley; his brother Dale R. Herspring, wife Maureen and niece Larissa Payne and nephews Kurt and Kyle Herspring; numerous cousins, family members and caring friends.
