Alfonso "Pete" Grijalva Jr.

September 25, 1954 - May 5, 2019

Alfonso passed away peacefully on May 5, 2019, surrounded by his family at the age of 64. Alfonso "Pete" was born September 25, 1954, to Alfonso and Albina Grijalva in French Camp, California. 

Pete attended Hazelton Elementary and then Hamilton Jr. High in Stockton, California. Pete graduated from Edison High School in 1972. After briefly attending Chico State  Pete would begin working at the Heinz cannery in his early 20's and he was employed there until Heinz closed in 1998. He would also meet his future wife Dolores while working at Heinz. 

Pete loved listening to music and he was considered the guy that always had the best "jams". He was known as the person that would bring everybody together. He also loved to barbeque for family and friends and he would often play anything from badminton to cards and table tennis with his children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. He always had some kind of activity set up for the kids. Pete was known for his sense of humor and for the love he had for his family. He would often put together trips to Circus Circus in Reno, the State Fair, Giants games & Great America. Pete was also a big fan of the San Francisco Giants & San Francisco 49ers. Pete cared deeply for his family and he was loved by all of his family, he will be greatly missed. 

He is survived by his children Alfonso "Pops" Sacramento Grijalva III (Angel) of Stockton, Chris Lomas (Maria), Angelo Lomas, and Tina Colon (Andy), all of Tracy. Pete is also survived by 8 grandchildren Chris "Smiley" Lomas (Mandy), Joseph Lomas, Angelo Ontiveros, Alexis Lomas, Dolores Colon, Jr Colon, Corrina Colon, Kingston Grijalva and 5 great grand children, Anthony, Joey, Kiana, Khloe Lomas & Blaidyn Lomas, as well as his Godchildren Monique Solario and Geno Arellano. Pete is also survived by 3 sisters, Veronica Sanchez (Abel), Rosie Juarez (Mitchell) and Gloria Gonzales (Gene). Pete is preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Dolores Grijalva, his father & mother Alfonso and Albina Grijalva and his brother Robert Grijalva.

Pete was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church, visitation will be on Monday, May 20th from 12-9pm at Fry Memorial Chapel 550 S. Central Ave., Tracy, with a Rosary at 7:00 pm, Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday May 21st at 10:00 am at St. Bernards's Catholic Church, 163 W. Eaton Ave., Tracy. Followed by burial at Tracy Public Cemetery.
