August 21, 1939 – February 10, 2017
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, February 15th for Tracy native Barbara Castro, 77, who passed away Friday, February 10th at Sutter Tracy Community Hospital.
Barbara was born August 21, 1939 in French Camp, CA, to Mads and Ethel Nielsen. She attended Tracy High School before marrying the late Frank Castro, Jr. in 1956. She worked 32 years at Holly Sugar, retiring in 2000.
In her younger days, Barbara was an avid seamstress. Throughout her life she enjoyed hosting family gatherings, playing cards with her family and friends, shopping, cooking and in more recent years, watching baseball on TV.
She is survived by daughters, Annette Castro-Miller of Tracy; Julie Ambriz and husband Kelly of Newbury Park; and son, Frank Castro III and Rachel Carter of Manteca; grandson, Robert Miller and wife Nicole of San Diego; grandson, Andrew Miller and wife Jennifer of Tracy; granddaughter, Emily Ambriz and grandson, Jack Ambriz of Newbury Park; grandson, Frank Castro IV and granddaughter, Georgia Castro of Manteca; great grandson, Joshua Miller and great granddaughter Samantha Miller of Tracy; sisters, Veronika Beck of Merced and Adeline Worsham of Tracy, brother-in-law Richard Castro of Modesto and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 14th from 2:30 to 4:30 at Fry Memorial Chapel, 550 South Central Ave. Wednesday’s service will be at 10:00 at the Tracy Public Cemetery, 501 East Schulte Road.
